At Human Powered the crew rides a staggeringly wide range of bikes: small wheel/city/commuter/fixed/folding/gear hub/touring/mountain/road/load/vintage … we offer advice based on our own experience.
The brands
Allegro / Brompton / Electra / Gazelle / Kona / Surly /Xtracycle
And heaps of custom bikes. New, vintage and old skool. We stock a great range of parts and will source frames and unusual components as you need. We get pretty excited talking through custom setups so please come visit!
The fit
When it comes to bicycle geometry, how wrong is too wrong? How much time do you spend in the saddle? How much is having the right setup worth to you?
When you buy a bike, make sure you test ride as many models as you can. Think about what you need and research different brands and technologies.
We can customise our bikes to suit you. These may include, for example: fitting an anatomically correct saddle (we’ve got a soft spot for the Brooks saddles!), swept-back handlebars, a taller stem, or more in depth alterations.
Think about any accessories you will need: locks, lights, racks, panniers, mudguards. We’ll bundle these with the bike at a discounted price. And fit them at no charge.
If your new bike budget is over $1000, you’ll probably hear us recommend having a professional bike fit by someone like Dom at First Place Osteopathy. You’ll have slightly less to spend on the bike itself but you can be confident that you come away with the right bike for you.
