Custom Surly Bikes
The Surly range make awesome platforms for custom bikes. Whether you start with a complete Surly and want to tweak certain things for a better fit or start with a Surly frame for a complete total build, the possibilities are endless.
Check this post for details on a custom build we did recently on a Long Haul Trucker. Or this post about a heavy duty expedition grade Big Dummy build. And check this page for more details on how we work through the detailed process of specifying and quoting on each custom build.
We now stock a range of Surly framesets for custom builds. Drop in or call to check our current stock.
Long Haul Trucker
Ask two bike mechanics a question and in general you’ll get at least three different answers. Even still, we’ve got a consensus here that the Trucker is our favourite tourer. The frames are a beautiful touring geometry. Come in and chat about how we can set up a Long Haul to suit your needs either in town or off the beaten track.
Ask us about upgrades for the Long Haul: better pricing on multiple bikes for a group trip, full kit with Tubus and Ortlieb expedition gear, Rohloff 14 speed gear hub conversion, a Schmidt or Shimano dynamo hub with Busch and Muller lighting system etc.
Check this update that Colin emailed us recently about his trip around Australia on a Long Haul we setup for him.
We keep a stock of wide range of complete Long Hauls (in both 26″ and 700c wheel versions) and now a good range of framesets. Email or phone forour current range.

Crosscheck
Sure if you’re planning a long tour the Long Haul may be your prime candidate but for a slightly lighter and more nimble bike around town, the Crosscheck could be worth considering. Or if cyclocross is on your agenda, you’re in luck.
With shorter chainstays than the Long Haul, the Crosscheck may not be quite as fun to ride with a rear rack and full load. Similarly, with a 36/48 tooth double crankset you won’t have as wider gear range but for getting round faster and lighter the savings are worth it.
You’ve still got eyelets for a rear rack and mudguards. And at a later stage you can move to a triple crankset configuration if you need.
