Melbourne Bike Fest is coming! “Bikefest is a community initiated celebration of bikes in everyday life”… in the Bike Fest crew’s own words.
The Festival runs 24th to 28th November and there’s STACKS of stuff to catch including parties, award nights, film screenings, debates and of course bike maintenance sessions. We’re proud to be sponsoring the festival and contributing to such an awesome local event about bikes!

Otesha (Aus): Cycling for Sustainability trivia and dinner night

The Otesha Project (Australia): Cycling for Sustainability is a not-for-profit organisation that offers bicycle tours and educational programs to engage youth about sustainable consumption. Using theatre, multimedia, and interactive workshops, Otesha (Aust.)’s creative focus provides a unique approach to understanding environmental and social justice issues, enabling youth to become role models and sustainability advocates.

DBUG’s next meeting: note venue change

Note new venue for our General Meeting on Thursday 17 June, 7.00 for a 7:30 start: Fairfield Alphington RSL 7 Railway Place, Fairfield. Across the road from the Fairfield railway station car park (south side).
There are a number of bike hoops at the station, and two outside Bean Counter Cafe two doors away (cnr Gillies St and Railway Place). Although there is nothing to lock your bike to, management are happy with bikes being parked on the
Good menu and drinks available.

Darebin BUG (DBUG) is our local Bicycle User Group. DBUG’s meeting are on the third Thursday of the month. This means the May ’10 meeting is next week, on the 20th May. This meeting will be at Human Powered. Come along and find out what DBUG is doing and how you get be involved.

“DAREBIN’S cycling lobby group has called for innovative measures to protect riders as new figures show more people are cycling than ever before.”
“Bicycle Victoria facilities development manager Mike Williamson said the group’s annual bike count on March 2 showed a 20 to 38 per cent increase in the number of commuters cycling though Darebin in the past year.”
