Finding stolen bikes

This new group is for listing stolen bikes, helpful tips to secure your beloved bike or heads up on bike thefts or gangs operating around
Victoria.
If you have had a bike stolen please include: date, time, suburb, description, photo, model no. etc
Unfortunately there’s been a spate of thefts around Melbourne in the last few weeks, so please join this group to help our fellow bike riders in need & share any tips, sightings in secondhand shops, online forums etc.

“DAREBIN’S cycling lobby group has called for innovative measures to protect riders as new figures show more people are cycling than ever before.”
“Bicycle Victoria facilities development manager Mike Williamson said the group’s annual bike count on March 2 showed a 20 to 38 per cent increase in the number of commuters cycling though Darebin in the past year.”

Catch us at the Darebin Kite Festival Sunday 14th March

Coming to the Kite Festival this Sunday (14th March)? Ride to Northcote’s All Nations park (behind the Northcote Plaza) for the Festival and leave you can leave your bike safe with the Human Powered crew for the day. We’ll be providing free valet bike parking between 10am and 5pm. And we’ll have some basic supplies to help where we can when it’s not too busy. You know, a pump and some lube. Or just come past and say hi!

Naming the new Merri Creek Shared Use Bridge

A new shared-use pedestrian and cycling bridge has been constructed above the water pipes across the Merri Creek.
Council is now seeking community input for the naming of the bridge. This route provides an alternative to the busy St Georges Road and High Street bridges and the Rushall Station pedestrian bridge. The new bridge links to the Capital City Trail, Edinburgh Gardens, St Georges Road shared path and Westgarth cycle route. The shared cycle and pedestrian bridge and connecting paths are being facilitated and funded by the Victorian Government, …

Social ride this Friday!!

Stop! Wait! Too soon, too soon!! We were plannining our next social ride for the evening of the 5th March but it’s crept up mighty fast. So fast that we’re a bit under-prepared. So we’ve postponed.
The next social ride will be Friday 19th March.
Meet at HQ (562 High Street Thornbury) at 6.15pm
Bring your bike, your bike lights and something warm for if it cools down.

2010 Northside ladies bicycle calendar special
