Catch us at the Darebin Kite Festival Sunday 14th March

Coming to the Kite Festival this Sunday (14th March)? Ride to Northcote’s All Nations park (behind the Northcote Plaza) for the Festival and leave you can leave your bike safe with the Human Powered crew for the day. We’ll be providing free valet bike parking between 10am and 5pm. And we’ll have some basic supplies to help where we can when it’s not too busy. You know, a pump and some lube. Or just come past and say hi!

Social ride this Friday!!

Stop! Wait! Too soon, too soon!! We were plannining our next social ride for the evening of the 5th March but it’s crept up mighty fast. So fast that we’re a bit under-prepared. So we’ve postponed.
The next social ride will be Friday 19th March.
Meet at HQ (562 High Street Thornbury) at 6.15pm
Bring your bike, your bike lights and something warm for if it cools down.

Goodbye to the Otesha Project!

The Otesha Project is a group of enthusiastic folks who cycle around Australia to raise awareness about sustainability issues and have a fantastic time doing it. Human Powered has been working to support Otesha for the last 18 months and we hope we can continue supporting the group for much longer! The 2010 Otesha tour is about to leave town. Brunswick Cycling Club Evening Enduro

Saturday 20th @ Harrison st Velodrome Brunswick. Juniors: 1pm, Seniors: 6pm
Featuring Club Sprint session as part of the Club Track Championships, held at the outdoor velodrome on Saturday 20th, in conjunction with the Evening Enduro.
Riders from other clubs may ride the Enduro but are not eligible for the club sprint rounds.

Hi Folks!
With such perfect cycling weather, everyone’s riding their bike! So we’ve announced some super package bike deals. These deals are full city riding commuting packages, not just a bike!

The Human Powered Approach to Home Bike Maintenance
Announcing one of the most exciting workshops at this year’s Sustainable Living Festival! We’ll be presenting an introduction to cycling and bike maintenance, this workshop is aimed at starting out cyclists and those already cycling but who are not yet familiar with the bike maintenance basics. BYO Bike for an instructive session with qualified mechanics!

A couple of months to go till the 2010 Sustainable Living Festival. Next year’s will be held at Federation Square in the city again from 19th till the 21st February.  We’ve been proactive and worked out a nice little contribution from the land of the bicycle…

Meet: 7pm Imax Rathdowne St, Carlton and bling it up for the holidays!!

New year bike maintenance training dates announced

Due to popular demand we’re scheduling bike maintenance training sessions for January and February. Here are the dates and some details of the upcoming training session. We’re moving from Saturday trainings to week night trainings. This means the shop is closed and there are no interruptions or distractions.
Training dates

Wednesday 27th January 6.30pm-8.30pm. Intermediate level (limit 6 participants per class) – THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL

Opening hours over Christmas/New Year’s

We’re extending our hours for the week before Christmas. You know how it goes…
Twas the week before Christmas, when all through the shop
Lots of bicycles were stirring, not even a mouse;
The helmets were hung by the fixed gear with care,
In hopes that Eddy Merx soon would be there;
The peleton was nestled all snug on their saddles,
While visions of full panniers danced in their heads;
