Zero-bike budget rally.. Thursday!

Late notice but this is a really important message to get behind… the state government’s cuts to the cycling infrastructure budget are extreme and unacceptable. Let’s use this gathering as a chance to constructively show the need for this funding.
There’s a heap of meeting places for group rides to the main gathering. From www.bv.com.au:

From this week’s Northcote Leader:

“DAREBIN’S cycling lobby group has called for innovative measures to protect riders as new figures show more people are cycling than ever before.”
“Bicycle Victoria facilities development manager Mike Williamson said the group’s annual bike count on March 2 showed a 20 to 38 per cent increase in the number of commuters cycling though Darebin in the past year.”

Space for bikes as builders make all the ride moves

BUILDERS are rushing to add bicycle parking spaces to new developments as the number of people cycling to work surges and developers strive to increase the green rating of new buildings.
Private developer Ubertas has plans for 185 bicycle parking places at a proposed 50-storey development on William Street, and developer Grocon is planning to put 1150 bike parking spaces at the CUB development site on Swanston Street.
