Welcome to our winter update! Read through the latest from the workshop and also some cycling news from around Melbourne.
Bill’s back from 4 weeks cycling in Europe. The first two weeks of this was with a big group checking out the Netherlands (check the Cycling Dutch Style blog). then 2 weeks for a quick trip through Copenhagen, Berlin and Paris. Keep tuned to humanpowered.com.au for a trip report with photos soon.

Melbourne Bike Fest is coming! “Bikefest is a community initiated celebration of bikes in everyday life”… in the Bike Fest crew’s own words.
The Festival runs 24th to 28th November and there’s STACKS of stuff to catch including parties, award nights, film screenings, debates and of course bike maintenance sessions. We’re proud to be sponsoring the festival and contributing to such an awesome local event about bikes!

2010 is officially the year of the bicycle. Well, at least at Human Powered Cycles it is!
Looking after your bike properly is essential to safe, efficient cycling. The classes we run will teach you about the week to week, month to month maintenance that every bike needs. It’s certainly not a substitute for regular servicing but it will help keep servicing expenses low.

Due to popular demand we’re scheduling bike maintenance training sessions for January and February. Here are the dates and some details of the upcoming training session. We’re moving from Saturday trainings to week night trainings. This means the shop is closed and there are no interruptions or distractions.
Training dates
Wednesday 27th January 6.30pm-8.30pm. Intermediate level (limit 6 participants per class) – THIS CLASS IS NOW FULL

Date: Saturday 3rd October
Time: 11:00am-1:30pm then question time
Price: $45 concession, $55 full
Location: HPC HQ, 562 High Street Thornbury (check the map)
Includes: training plus Save My Bike maintenance handbook (the best home reference we’ve found yet for bike maintenance)
Wear: old clothes, closed toe footwear
Bring: your bike, a notepad and pen, any questions you’ve got
