6-21 February: free talks and events around transport & cycling at the Sustainable Living Festival, e.g.:
• Sun 14 Feb, 12 – 5pm. Melbourne Hardcourt Bike Polo. Free beginner skills and mallet making workshop, followed by actual bike polo games; hosted by Melbourne Bike Polo.

• Thur 18 Feb, 3 – 4.30pm, Forum: Transport for Sustainable Cities; hosted by the Melbourne Transport Forum.

• Fri 19 Feb, 2 – 2.50pm, How Car Dependence is Turning the Suburban Dream to Nightmare; hosted by the Institute of Sensible Transport.

• Sat 20 Feb, 10 – 10.50am, The Tao of Cycling; hosted by the Austin-Mercy (workplace) BUG and the Banyule BUG.

• Sat 20 Feb, 12 – 12.50pm, CycleWise – Tips for Surviving and Thriving on the Roads; hosted by Bikes@Work.

• Sat 20 Feb, 5 – 5.50pm, Zero Emissions Transport by 2020: How do we get there?; hosted by Beyond Zero Emissions.

• Sun 21 Feb, 3 – 4.30pm, Bringing a Safe Climate Forward; hosted by Alternative Technology Association.

Sunday 21 February: Melbourne Summer Cycle. If you’ve never ridden over the West Gate Bridge, or really had a good look around Melbourne on a bike, this is the ride for you. A fundraiser for the MS Society.

Sunday 21 February: Ballarat Cycle Classic, 4 ride options all starting at Lake Wendouree. Jersey included in price; entire entry fee donated to Ballarat Cancer Research Centre.

Tuesday 2 March: Super Tuesday Bicycle Count 2010. Bicycle Victoria coordinates a morning of bike counting at various locations. The counters can nominate a BUG that they’d like to receive $50. Please consider counting, and please nominate Darebin BUG.

15–20 March ‘Ride Around the River March 2010’: a fully supported 6 day journey exploring the lower Snowy River in East Gippsland; the plateaux, forests and rivers that feed it. www.snowyrivercycling.com.au

Sunday 28 March: MAD Ride, 3 ride options starting and finishing in Woodend. Put on by our friends in the Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club.
