Darebin BUG’s May meeting… at the Human Powered Cafe
Darebin BUG (DBUG) is our local Bicycle User Group. DBUG’s meeting are on the third Thursday of the month. This means the May ‘10 meeting is next week, on the 20th May. This meeting will be at the Human Powered Cafe, next door to us. Come along and find out what DBUG is doing and how you get be involved.

15 May Bridge 2 Bass Hills: 63 and 114km ride options starting and finishing at San Remo, provide superb views of Western Port and Bass Strait and its rugged coastline, as well as panoramic views from the hills.
21 May Enjoy beer and talk cycling with PUB BUG: 6pm, Mountain Goat Brewery, corner North and Clarke Streets, Richmond.
24 May official launch of Bike Linx by the Darebin Mayor. Bike Linx is an initiative of the Darebin Men’s Shed; it restores bikes to be distributed to people experiencing disadvantage within Darebin. The launch will be held at 11am at the Men’s Shed (the back of the car park in the garden), Darebin Community Health Centre, corner Blake and Crevelli Streets, Preston East.
29 May The Whittlesea Challenge: 110 and 50km course options provide undulating terrain and breathtaking views across the Kinglake National Park; a challenging ride for cyclists of all fitness levels.
31 May-1 June Communities in Control Conference: for community sector workers, volunteers and supporters. This year, the topic is power: who’s got it, who needs it, how to get it. Speakers include Christine Nixon and Joan Kirner.

Darebin BUG fundraiser!
Flexicar is a car-share scheme for when two wheels are not enough. Discounted First Aid training: Darebin BUG pays half the price ($55) of customised first aid training (level one), including CPR, snake bites, fractures and abrasions, to its ride leaders. Melbourne Bike Share is due to open in May. There are plans for 50 bike stations and 500 bikes. The first 30 minutes will be free.
