This month’s most popular bikes
It’s always interesting looking at which bikes are most popular. And it seems to be always changing. Check out last month’s hits here.
This month the Electras have been a star. The Allegros are a trusty favourite and the Konas keep moving.
A great addition to the list has been the popularity of the Gazelle Innergy electric bikes. These bikes have hit the nail on the head with an electric assist system that instead of replacing your pedalling, senses your power input and assists appropriately.
Training at HPC
Both the introductory and intermediate sessions will keep running over the winter months. The next scheduled sessions are:
- Wednesday 16th June for intro
- Wednesday 21st July for intermediate.
We’ll be scheduling in more sessions for August and ramping back up to the tune of Spring in September. Make sure you call or email (training@humanpowered.com.au) to make a booking or enquire about if you’re interested.
Details about the sessions available here.

Rosy at Bikes@Work will be hosting a heap of bike riding courses over the coming months. They are running through the Jika Jika community centre. For details see Bikes@Work.
The darker months (more thoughts on bike lighting)
We’ve been supplying heaps of lighting systems over the past months. I recently posted a summary of what we stock and why here.
Since then, we’ve had some more options come in and have gained a bit of feedback from customers.
We’ve had the first Planet Bike Blaze dynamo light imported into the country on evaluation. Good and bright, suitable for the shared paths or
on-road and nice having the option of a flashing beam (the European lights don’t have a flashing option). The in-built standlight function
takes a bit too long to charge up and doesn’t hold as much charge as I’d like, though.
The range of Busch and Muller headlights now includes the Lumotec IQ Fly which has a hand-adjustable beam angle. Pretty neat being able to alter
the beam on the move. After experimenting with the Planet Bike Blaze, the B&M’s standlight is amazing – extremely bright, long lasting and
quick to charge.
We’ve also got the Portland Design Works RadBot rear battery lights in stock. The Radbot 500 is a 0.5W LED like the Planet Bike SuperFlash,
only with a built in reflector (and it comes with a rack mount bracket, these are a $10 extra for the SuperFlash.) The RadBot 1000 has a full 1W
LED that’s twice the output of any other LED rear light available at the moment it also has an inbuilt reflector and strobing or constant beam
options. And here’s a review of the RadBot 1000 courtesy of Lewis.
