“The bike you ride should be a durable, repairable, functional machine with a minimal ecological footprint. And it must give you value for money. A ‘green bike’ does all those things.”

A small correction to the article…
Richard wrote “Human Powered actively engages in the surrounding community, particularly the local asylum-seeker resource centre, with free bikes for recently arrived asylum seekers.”
We’re not actually working with any asylum seekers at the moment for a few reasons (we’re still dealing with extremely rapid growth, a lack of space and resources and other reasons).
This doesn’t mean we’re not active in the local community. We’ve been involved in a range of on-site free bike fix events (festivals, school fetes, etc); we support local groups with donations for raffles, trivia nights (kindergartens, schools, community groups); and we work with various groups providing bike ed to diverse background learner groups.
