2010 Electra bikes

Late last year, Electra bikes were getting pretty hard to find. The 2010 Electra range is starting to arrive in the country. The first to come in is the Amsterdam Original 3i men’s. It now comes with an alloy frame but apart from this is pretty much the same. 3 speed Shimano hub gears, full chain case, comfortable upright ride. The rest of the range, including the women’s range, will be available soon.
The Original comes in one frame size. We adjust the saddle and handle bars to fit you.

HPC’s January newsletter: the year of the bicycle!

We’re back! And what a scorching start to the year… not just the temperature but also more people pedalling around town!
I’ve started with some local news from the shop and pasted in this month’s BikeFun newsletter after that.

Here at Human Powered Cycles we like practical bikes, the sort of bike where you know if you get a sudden urge to buy a slab of beer, a bag of cement and a Brompton you know you’ll be able to carry them allĀ  home safely and securely.

Happy New Year!

Welcome to 2010! We’re back in the workshop to keep you rolling. Our new bike range now includes Kona as well as the trusty Gazelle, Surly, Electra and Allegro bikes.

Rohloff speedhub

So you like riding. A lot. You ride for transport, for fitness, to work, on holiday, around town, in the bush… basically, you ride all the time. And, predictably, your drivetrain wears out. Quite often. Ouch. Quite inconvenient and pricey.

Then along came the Rohloff Speedhub: the 14 speed hub with a super wide gear range. Ok so it’s not entirely maintenance free (an oil change every 5,000 clicks is recommended).
We’ve now got three staff hooked on Rohloffs – Moz with four Rohloffs (!) on his various bikes, Joel with one …
