Welcome to our winter update! Read through the latest from the workshop and also some cycling news from around Melbourne.
Bill’s back from 4 weeks cycling in Europe. The first two weeks of this was with a big group checking out the Netherlands (check the Cycling Dutch Style blog). then 2 weeks for a quick trip through Copenhagen, Berlin and Paris. Keep tuned to humanpowered.com.au for a trip report with photos soon.

Wednesday 13th was Ride to Work Day and, as tradition dictates, we celebrated. We teamed up with Darebin Council to provide a pit-stop free
bike fix and grab-a-bite-to-eat quick fix for hungry cyclists in a hurry.
This is where we were located. And here’s a photo just for fun,
Next year it’s going to get better again. We’re dreaming of a coffee cart, full breakfast spread and lounge chairs… and it looks like it’s going to happen!

First things first, here’s a big congratulations to everyone for keeping on pedaling through the cold mornings and evenings!
With a good set of gloves and jacket the fresh mornings and evenings are great for cycling. With some mudguards and a good set of lights, even a bit of rain can be enjoyable! And even better, the days are getting longer and Spring is approaching fast…

Russell has a background in mountain bike racing. He knows how to throw a bike around.
Times have changed and these days he needs a bike for city riding. But something tough. He commutes to Latrobe Uni daily and lives in Brunswick. He shifts fairly heavy loads on the bike and tows trailers. Russell doesn’t own a car and was looking for a bike to be his primary form of transport.
In the past, we’ve serviced Russell’s hybrid Pakpare steel frame bike and recently fitted an 8 speed hub gear to it …

Reviewing the range
This is the first in an ongoing series of reviews of models in our bike range. We try to have the most relevant city, commuting, shopping and town bike range possible (plus touring bikes and load bikes but these are different kettles of aquatic lifeforms) and these reviews should help give some insight into why we’ve got the models we do in stock. Anyone who owns these bikes or is thinking of test riding or purchasing is invited to contribute to the discussion on each post.
