March newsletter

17 March 2012 Posted by bill No Comments

Welcome to the “not quite monthly, but aspiring to be almost regular” newsletter from Human Powered!

Here’s a quick update on what’s happening and some great offers.

In this edition:

  • Congratulations Lewis!
  • Touring bike season
  • Bike maintenance training

CONGRATULATIONS LEWIS

Also if you’ve visited in the past couple of weeks you will have noticed our workshop manager Lewis hasn’t been here. He’s been at home with 2 week old family member Simon. Congratulations Lewis and Nicole!

TOURING BIKE SEASON

2012 Vivente World Randonneurs have recently become available and we’ve got all three models in stock (STI drop bar, Barcon drop bar, Trekking bar). One major change is the move to square taper bottom brackets and cranksets across the range. All models come with Tubus Logo rack, XT dynamo hub, Busch & Muller lights, Schwalbe Marathon tyres and Planet Bike mudguards as standard (the trekking bar model also has a Tubus Duo front rack and Pletscher double leg kick-stand) – amazing value for a complete touring or heavy duty trekking bike.

We’ve also been inundated with enquiries about the new Long Haul Trucker. There are a number of changes from last year’s spec and they still offer a really solid platform for touring setups.

The Disc Trucker will be landing in a few months. The Disc Trucker comes with Avid BB7 mechanical discs. Let us know if you’re interested.

Possibly the most important change is colour. Now available in Blacktacular or Super dark green!

Currently in stock we’ve got LHT complete bikes in a number of sizes including some discounted 2011 models. If you’re looking at a custom build, sometimes it works out more efficient to build from a frameset (and not pay for components you’re changing anyway).

We’ve got LHT framesets in various sizes for custom builds (in 26″ and 700c wheel size).

As a slightly lighter and more nimble option, the Surly Crosscheck can be a perfect option for credit card touring or city transport. We’ve also got the Crosscheck in complete and frameset. Just to throw some fun into the mix, we’ve also got a Surly 1×1 frameset and Troll complete in stock. Check it!

MAINTENANCE TRAINING

Whether you’re interested in getting on a bike and have no cycling experience or if you’re a regular rider looking to take on a bit more of your bike maintenance needs, these courses can help your skills and confidence.

Our two regular sessions are “introductory” and “intermediate”. We’ve also been running some exceptional advanced courses (usually where a group of friends approach us with specific requests, eg. drivetrain replacement, hub servicing etc).

Check the calendar of upcoming sessions at http://www.humanpowered.com.au/wp/training

We’ll wrap it up there and aim to send out another update in around a month.

Thanks for reading through. Drop in for a coffee sometime soon.

Cheers,

Bill and the crew
