General info

Email Bill to book at training@humanpowered.com.au or phone on 9029 6504 to book your place. Bookings and payment in advance are required for all classes.

Two qualified, cultured and experienced trainers are present for each session. We have facilitated many training programs to date in a range of environments for participants of all levels. The classes are flexible, relevant and hands on.

The training cost is $45 concession, $55 full per person per class. All classes are held at headquarters, 562 High Street Thornbury (check the map).

Your first training session includes a copy of Save My Bike maintenance handbook (the best home reference we’ve found yet for bike maintenance).

Make sure you wear old clothes and closed toe footwear. Bring your bike, a notepad and pen, any questions you’ve got.

Introductory Maintenance: session content

Course covers:

  • removal of wheels (front wheels, derailler gear rear wheels but not hub gear wheels as the procedure can be very specific to the model and more complex)
  • puncture repair
  • tyre pressure and condition
  • safety check of bike
  • basic bike fit and ergonomics
  • lubricating and cleaning your chain and cables

Intermediate Maintenance: session content

  • brake set up and adjustment
  • gear set up and tuning
  • a more in depth safety check of your bike
  • cleaning your drivetrain
  • changing cables

The exact content will depend on the background of the participants and the areas you are most interested in learning about.

All classes include time for discussion and answering questions.

The January intermediate class has been hugely popular. If you are interested in attending an intermediate class in February please email training@humanpowered.com.au to register your interest.
