Warranty provided on our workmanship

We stand behind the workmanship we provide. Ensure that you contact us as soon as possible if you believe there is any shortcoming in work from our workshop.

All warranty on workmanship is voided by unreasonable and abusive usage, as determined by us.

This warranty extends only as far as the work we have performed and provides in no manner whatsoever a full warranty on your bicycle.

Warranty provided on parts and accessories purchased through the workshop

All new parts and accessories purchased through the workshop come with a limited warranty. The period of this warranty differs depending upon the particular product. Please ask at time of purchase for duration of warranty.

This warranty is voided by unreasonable and abusive usage, as determined by us.

No warranty whatsoever is provided on second hand parts.

Wheel builds

Human Powered Cycles offers a 5 year warranty on wheels built with rims, spokes and hubs it has recommended as suitable for your usage requirements.

This warranty was inspired by Peter White’s. We agree with his attitude that a properly built wheel of suitable components will need little if any truing through its life. Its life is limited by rim and hub lifespan.

If you break a spoke or your wheel comes out of true under normal riding conditions we will replace the spoke or true the wheel on the spot. Failure due to exceptional circumstance is not covered by this warranty. If your chain derails and mashes your drive side spokes, the repair is not covered by this warranty. This is why we fit spoke protectors unless you specifically ask us not to. Likewise, pannier straps pr sticks causing wheel damage and similarly unexpected stresses are not covered by this warranty.

Wheel building and all other warranties are voided by abusive use including involvement in bicycle polo.

Our wheels are built to correct spoke tensions. Each spoke is tension checked. Should you have your wheel trued by any other shop or mechanic, this warranty is void. We cannot guarantee anyone else’s work.

Should you wish, we will build wheels for you with spokes and rims not to our recommendations. In this case, you will be clearly informed before the build that the work cannot be guaranteed. Customers seeking light weight racing wheels or economy builds may wish for this however we will only recommend wheels that we believe are suitable for your usage.

We use the Wheelsmith spoke range and will recommend Velocity rims in most cases. We supply a range of hub brands for different purposes.
